  • Duration: 21 D - 20 Nights
  • Language: English

Overview

Prepare to embark on an extraordinary journey into one of the most remote, pristine and awe inspiring regions of the Karakoram the Snow Lake Biafo Hispar La trek. Renowned as one of the world most challenging and rewarding long distance glacier treks, this expedition invites adventurers to immerse themselves in some of the planet’s most dramatic mountain landscapes.

The journey begins in the picturesque village of Askole, the final human settlement before the vast wilderness of ice and rock that defines the Karakoram. From here, the trail gradually winds upward along the Biafo Glacier, a colossal river of ice stretching more than 60 kilometers. As you navigate this rugged terrain, you’ll traverse glacial moraines, shimmering ice formations and high walled valleys sculpted over millennia. Every turn reveals an extraordinary blend of raw natural power and untouched beauty.

The trek’s crown jewel is the legendary Snow Lake, an immense glacial basin often described as a frozen ocean. Encircled by towering, jagged peaks and endless fields of ice, Snow Lake offers a surreal and humbling experience. Standing on its vast, white expanse, trekkers often feel as though they’ve stepped into another world one defined by silence, purity and unimaginable scale.

From Snow Lake, the adventure intensifies as the route climbs toward the formidable Hispar La Pass at over 5,000 meters. This high altitude crossing is a true test of endurance and determination. Yet, the effort is richly rewarded: from the top of Hispar La, an uninterrupted panorama unfolds magnificent snow clad summits, plunging valleys and the massive Hispar Glacier stretching out to meet the horizon. This moment is often described as the pinnacle of the entire expedition, a view so vast and dramatic that it etches itself permanently into memory.

Descending from the pass, trekkers enter the equally impressive Hispar Glacier, following its crevassed and glittering surface towards the verdant landscapes of the Hispar Valley. Throughout the journey, participants are supported by expert guides and a seasoned expedition team who ensure safety, comfort and a deep understanding of the region’s geography, culture and mountaineering heritage.

The Snow Lake Biafo Hispar La Trek is more than a trekking holiday it is a transformative adventure through one of the last great untouched wildernesses. It challenges the body, inspires the spirit and fosters a profound connection with nature’s grandest creations. Join us in 2026 for an expedition that promises not just breathtaking scenery, but memories and accomplishments that will stay with you for a lifetime.
